At Lifted Trucks, we treat our customers in Peoria and the people we work with across the state like family. Recently, we did something special for one member of our extended family: Henry Cejudo.
Who is Henry Cejudo?
Henry Cejudo is one of the greatest athletes to ever compete in combat sports. Starting from humble beginnings as an amateur boxer in Phoenix, he went on to win the gold medal for men's freestyle wrestling in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and win two championships as a UFC fighter. As a champion in multiple fields, Henry knows what it means to face adversity.
But one day, Henry faced something completely unexpected.
The Fire
In October of 2017, Henry was attending a charity event in California. During his overnight stay, his hotel room suddenly caught on fire. But Henry's a fighter, and he was able to narrowly escape his hotel room with just a burn on his foot.
However, Henry lost something very precious to him: his 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medal. When the Lifted Trucks staff heard about this story, we knew we had to help him out like we do all our family members in Glendale.
The Gift
Lifted Trucks couldn't resist replacing Henry's gold medal... in style.
We took a trip down to Scottsdale to visit The Estate Watch & Jewelry Company. We commissioned them to create a replacement of Henry's medal made completely out of solid gold. This is different from traditional Olympic gold medals, which are made of silver and then gold plated. Along the edges of the custom piece, we had the words "Henry Cejudo" and "Risen from the ashes" engraved, a special message to Henry that references his journey as an athlete and the medal's rebirth from the fire. Fitted within the custom medal is a jade piece, which was present in the original medal. The jade piece represents luck to the recipient of the medal.
Henry's Reaction
Needless to say, Henry was excited when he received his gift. After being without his gold medal for so many years, it was amazing putting a smile on the face of a member of the Lifted Trucks Family. To see Henry's reaction for yourself, watch the YouTube video we created here.
